My older son and I are currently vacationing in Cayman and we bought supplies at Diver's World. We are novice snorkelers and needed a pair of fins, two vests, and a pair of reef shoes. We also tossed in a disposable underwater camera at the check out. The total was US$225. The price was at a premium retail level, like most things in Cayman.

The store was well stocked with a big range of high quality items. The salesman was helpful and efficient. The store wasn't excessively crowded.

The fins, vests, and reef shoes worked perfectly. Unfortunately, the camera case filled with water as if it was supposed to do so. At first, I thought this was the normal function but quickly realized that was not how it was supposed to work. I opened the case, drained the water and reseated the camera. This time the seal held. Once we got back to the condo, I took the camera out to dry.

The next morning, we went to Diver's World. I asked if the camera was still functional even though it got wet. The salesperson said that he didn't think so. He said the cameras are very reliable and that I probably did something wrong. I asked if he could exchange the camera. He said that I would need to contact the manufacturer and that there was nothing he could do for me. He didn't offer any other solution. I thanked him and my son and I left.

I was quite surprised. This our second visit to Cayman. This island is a premium experience at premium prices. Until Diver's World, my experience with all customer service folks here was exceptional. In contrast, my experience at Diver's World was similar to that of a store in some third-world country. It was hard to believe that the salesperson abated all responsibility for the camera. I really wasn't prepared to press him in front of my child. A good salesperson might have offered to exchange the camera or offer me another one at 50% off. None of that happened. I'm just glad that I didn't buy anything more substantial (like a $600 scooter) from Diver's World - I wouldn't have been so polite if they told me to contact the manufacturer for that purchase.

Summay: avoid Diver's World if possible

Hi Gatessa - Divers World does not pay for its presence on my site and I have personally gone to their shop, numerous times. Please note that all of the staff are friendly, actually too friendly! I cannot speak for them but I have bought a watch, my snorkeling mask and fins, diving wet suit as well as swimming goggles in their shop. In the numerous times that I have been there, I have never experience bad service. - Fevi

This place was a total SCAM. Don't shop here! Staff were RUDE and completely unhelpful. Sold us an underwater camera that was complete JUNK and refused to give us a refund or even store credit for a new (functioning) camera. Buyer beware!
